No War With Iran!

Body

ISSUE: Trump has a blank check to declare war using the broad authority Congress gave the executive branch to protect this country right after 9-11—the 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF).

The AUMF has no time limits, no geographic constraints, and no exit strategy.

It has become a way for any President, at any time, to wage war without Congressional oversight.

Congress can and must reassert its proper authority so Trump can’t start a war merely to distract from his wrong-doings.

The Trump administration has repeatedly chosen to provoke and escalate tensions with Iran. We are still as close to war with Iran as we have been in decades because of Trump. What all of this makes very clear is that Congress needs to act to prevent Trump from getting us into more unnecessary, costly, endless wars. Congress must exercise its power to declare war and rein in the Trump to prevent the situation from getting worse.

Last week, the House voted to approve a resolution aimed at restraining the President's ability to use military action against Iran. Let’s tell Scott and Rubio we expect the Senate to do the same! Tell your Democratic members of Congress in the House to keep the pressure on!

CALL TO ACTION: My name is XXX and my address and zip code is XXX. I am a proud member of Palm Beach Indivisibles. I demand that Congress assert its constitutional authority and make sure that Trump can’t take us into war with Iran without approval from Congress.
