The American People Need to Know!

Body

Trump and his allies continue to rebuff all efforts by Democrats in the House to exercise their oversight powers. His  strategy is to stonewall and run out the clock until the 2020 election.

Short of impeachment, Congress has only three options to address a non-compliant executive branch, all of which are less than ideal.

It can:

•sue the administration for civil contempt of Congress, which would likely drag on for years;

•refer individuals for criminal contempt to the Justice Department, which is headed by Attorney General William Barr, a Trump appointee; or

•go the contempt route and order the House sergeant-at-arms to begin arresting people, a step that hasn’t been taken since 1935.

Congressional Democrats will be able to get more information if the House begins impeachment proceedings against Trump.

Let’s urge our Members of Congress to hold Trump accountable to the fullest extent of their powers, even if it means impeachment.
